Judicial and Extrajudicial Reorganization and Bankruptcy
Building upon its traditional position of leadership in the fields of banking and financial law, Pinheiro Guimarães developed a solid practice in bankruptcy over several decades. Subsequent to the enactment of the new Bankruptcy Law in 2005, Pinheiro Guimarães has acted in the two most relevant insolvency cases of our time – Parmalat and Varig. Following the firm’s engagement in those two cases, Pinheiro Guimarães has been retained consistently to advise creditors (individuals and ad hoc committees) in the judicial and extrajudicial reorganizations that followed, and to advise investors with relevant equity positions in projects facing insolvency.
Accustomed to act in cross-border transactions, Pinheiro Guimarães has benefitted from its broad experience in the business world, especially in banking, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and litigation. As a result, the firm is well prepared to be able to have an accurate perception of its clients’ objectives and to offer a multidisciplinary approach that achieves effective results.
Recognition of the high quality of the work of Pinheiro Guimarães in the field of insolvency is demonstrated by the many recommendations made by well-known local and foreign publications.
